Using only straight lines and without lifting your pen from the page, what is the fewest number of lines it takes to pass through nine circles that are arranged as above?

Clarification: The circles have a very small but finite radius.

this is the solution, but a loophole is that the problem did not say how thick the lines can be. So, if you had a giant pen, you could draw 1 thick line covering all the dots.

Given that the dots do have a finite size, 3 VERY long straight lines could be used to join them. HOWEVER, I answered '1' since the question did not stipulate that the line(s) had to be straight. IMO, the question is a bit too ambiguous.
