Construction Development

Geometry Level 1

A construction developer built a regular hexagonal pond, and then placed 6 square plots of land around it for houses.

If the pond has a perimeter of 300 meters, what is the perimeter of this project?

1000 meters 1050 meters 1200 meters 900 meters

The squares effectively tripled the perimeter, since they each removed one edge from the perimeter and replaced it with three edges of the same length.

300 × 3 = 900 300 \times 3 = \boxed{900}

That's quick!

Shouldn't we add hexagonal perimeter itself ?

Well, it seems to me, they are no longer part of the project perimeter.
