Cookie Cake Slices

Geometry Level 3

A Cookie cake is a large cookie the size of a cake.

You,The party planner, are hired to slice up the cookie cake. The people who are attending the party either love the icing on the edge of the cookie or don't. Guests will eat even the smallest of slices. Which slicing method below will ensure the ratio of edge slices to non-edge slices is closest to 1:1?

Note: A ratio 0:1 equals 0 and a ratio 1:0 is undefined

A . \LARGE A. Cutting an eight slice pizza

B . \LARGE B. Cutting two sets of parallel lines

C . \LARGE C. Cutting three sets of parallel lines

D . \LARGE D. Cutting more than 3 concentric circles

2nd Note: A set of parallel lines is 2 or more parallel lines. The sets of parallel lines in this problem don't have to intersect at 45 or 90 degree angles

The first method has a ratio of edge to non-edge of 8:0 which is undefined. An example using the second method has a ratio of 3:1. An example using the third method has a ratio of 2.25:1.Lastly the fourth method has the smallest ratio of 1:3. The third method, while having the most slices, has the closest edge to non-edge ratio to 1:1.
