Adding up both purchases, 3 pings and 3 pongs will cost 34 + 56 = 90 34+56 = 90 . Dividing by 3, we get that 1 ping and 1 pong will cost 90 3 = 30 \frac {90}{3} = 30 .

Note: We may also proceed to solve for the individual price of a ping and a pong, which are $26 and $4 respectively. However, that is not necessary.
