Actually there are 34..please correct!! 》1 - 4×4(the biggest square) 》4 - 3×3 》5 - 2×2 》8 - 1×1 》16 - smallest ones in 1x1 squares 》So total 34.. :)

Unless we're counting rectangles as squares now, there are only 26, which isn't even an answer choice. Squares can be classified as rectangles, but rectangles cannot be classified as squares. Each corner block and the center block count as 5 squares (4 inside, 1 encompassing), and then there's the overall square itself. 5x5+1=26. The side rectangles should not be counted as squares.

Matt, he is not counting the rectangles; he is including the not so obvious squares.
