If 88 caws can graze a field in 10 days means 16 cows can graze the field in 88 × 10 16 \frac {88 \times 10}{16} =55

Therefore by removing 55 cows from 88 cows, we get 33 cows

Therefore n.o. cows should be taken away so that the remaining cows graze the field in 16 days is 33 \boxed{33}
