at first ,i had 20 cows,

1 of them ran away........................[left 19]

3 of them got robbed...........................[left 16]

1 2 \frac {1}{2} of them fell sick....................[left 8]

i got an extra 7...............................................[left 15]

again,10 of them fell ill................................[left 5]

again i bought 15 more..............................[left 20]

60% of them ran away .........................[left 8]

If I started with 20, I lost 1, I would have had 19, then 3 more went, I would have 16. 8 of them fell sick, so I am left with 8. I got 7 more, so I would have had 15. 10 of them went, so 5 are left. When I bought 15 more, there were 20, and then 60% of them ran away, so there are 8 left.

Answer: 8
