Say that the dimensions of the box are X × X . Then the diameter of the larger pie is X and its crusty circumference is therefore π × X . The diameters of the pies in the box on the right would be half that, so 2 X . Therefore, the total amount of crusty circumference in that box is 4 × π × 2 B = 2 π × X .
Therefore, there is twice as much crusty circumference in b o x B compared to box A.
