From the rightmost column, A + B = 10

From either of the next two columns, C = A - 1

And since (A + B + C) is at most 18, B has to equal 1. (The carry for the leftmost column is 1.)

So B = 1, A + 1 = 10 so A = 9, C = 9 - 1 so C = 8.

Sum is 999 + 111 + 888 = 1998
