Current in a spring!

Imagine a spring is connected to a source of potential difference. What will happen to its length when the current flows through it?

We know that current creates magnetic field and the magnetic field applies force on current carrying wires. Therefore, if we have multiple current carrying wires in the space they will create magnetic field and apply force on each other.

No change will occur in the length of the spring. The spring will elongate The spring will compress

It will compress and expand.

  1. 2 wires carrying currents in the same direction attract each other.

  2. 2 wires carrying currents in the opposite direction repel each other.
