18 = 2 × 3 × 3 18=2\times3\times3

30 = 2 × 3 × 5 30=2\times3\times5

The largest number that fits evenly into both is 2 × 3 = 6 2\times3=6

18 6 = 3 \dfrac{18}6=3

30 6 = 5 \dfrac{30}6=5

So there will be 3 × 5 = 15 3\times5=\boxed{15} squares.

Thank you for the nice solution. That is exactly how we solve it. I am not sure if there is another solution.
