Using the formula 1 / 2 ( x 2 + x + 2 ) 1/2(x^2+x+2) , where x equals the number of lines cut, we punch in number 250 for x, and get 1 / 2 ( 25 0 2 + 250 + 2 ) = 31376 1/2(250^2+250+2)=31376
