A prisoner is told, "If you tell a lie we will hang you; if you tell the truth we will shoot you." What can he say to save himself?"

Nothing "You will shoot me." "You will hang me."

Too bad for you that they electrocute you for being so cunning! If you say "You will hang me." , then you are creating a paradox - if they say it is a lie, then they will hang you, making it a truth. If they say it is true, they will shoot you, making it a lie.

Imagine you say, "You will hang me." It cannot be a truth, because then they will shoot you. But then what you said would be a lie. Contradiction. It cannot be a lie, because then they would hang you. But then what you said would be a truth. Contradiction. Therefore, the statement "You will hang me" is neither a truth or a lie, in this scenario.
