Damn it! Exams!

Algebra Level 3

I had a social studies exam today. The exam was worth 20 marks, and I made a mistake for which half a mark will be cut in every question, and there were 10 questions in all.

What is the percentage of marks I would get?

The answer is 75.00.

Since there are 10 questions in all, and 1 2 \dfrac{1}{2} marks will be cut for each question, Total number of marks that will be cut are:-

10 1 2 = 5 10*\dfrac{1}{2}=5

Hence, I will score 15 marks.

Now, for the percentage;-

15 20 100 = 75 \dfrac{15}{20}*100=75 %, [ M a r k s s c o r e d T o t a l n u m b e r o f m a r k s 100 ] [\dfrac{ \ Marks\ scored}{Total\ number\ of \ marks} *100]

Hence the answer is 75%

Is this question based on a true story?

BTW one of my teachers in my school told me "I think you have got bronze in Manav Sthali".

So I think I have got the bronze prize.

Total marks=20

10 questions are there so,

Now,0.5 marks will be cut from each question,so,

Total marks cut =5marks

So he got 20-5=15 marks

Therefore,he got 75% marks in his S.S exam.

I never mentioned that Each question is worth 2 marks! :P Just Kidding. It's good ¨ \ddot\smile

20 1 2 × 10 20 = 20 5 20 = 15 20 \frac{20 - \frac{1}{2} \times 10}{20} = \frac{20-5}{20} = \frac{15}{20} . Multiply this by 100 and you get 75 \boxed{75} %.
