1 day = 24 hours = ( 24 × 60 ) minutes = 1440 minutes 1~\text{day}=24~\text{hours}=(24\times 60)~\text{minutes}=1440~\text{minutes}

Hence, he loses : 1440 × 20 12 seconds = 2400 seconds ~\text{Hence, he loses}:~\dfrac{1440\times 20}{12}~\text{seconds}=2400~\text{seconds}

2400 seconds = 2400 60 minutes = 40 minutes 2400~\text{seconds}=\dfrac{2400}{60}~\text{minutes}=\boxed{40}~\text{minutes}

Urgh! I did it like this.

12s=20minutes Xseconds=60x24minutes

12x24x60=20x 846seconds=x

Convert into minutes.

1 minute=60 seconds X minutes=856seconds

856=60x 856/60=x 14.27minutes.

hello my name is Harris...please vote my ans. if the watch losses 20 sec in 12 min so it will lose, 100 sec in 1 hour . if it losses 100 sec in 1 hour so it will lose 2400 sec in 24 hour (a day) . now divide 2400 with 60 ( to convert sec in min). 2400/60 = 40 \boxed{40} 40 min . ans thanks.

If Dan loses 20 seconds every 12 minutes ,

then he loses x seconds every 24 hours .

Cross-multiply, we have

x sexonds = 24 h o u r s 20 s e c o n d s 12 m i n u t e s \frac{24 hours * 20 seconds}{12 minutes}

Adjust the units,

x seconds = 24 60 m i n u t e s 20 s e c o n d s 12 m i n u t e s \frac{24 * 60 minutes * 20 seconds}{12 minutes}

x seconds = 2 * 60 * 20 seconds

In minutes,

x minutes = 2 60 20 60 \frac{2 * 60 * 20}{60}

x minutes = 40 minutes

That's the result.

thank you sir

In 12 min, watch loses 20 sec.

In 1 min, watch loses (20/12) sec.

In 1 hr(60 min),watch loses (20/12)*60 = 100 sec.

So, in 1 day(24 hrs), watch loses (100*24) = 2400 sec = (2400/60) min = 40 min

answer is 40minutes

For every 12 minutes, 20 seconds are lost. In 1 hour, 100 seconds are lost. In 24 hours, 2400 seconds are lost. In minutes, this is 2400 / 60 = 40 2400/60=\boxed{40} minutes lost.

in ine day 24*60=1440min then, every 12minutes , 20second loss then 1440miin 2400second . so 2400/60 =40 minutes

In one hour every 12 minutes watch loses 20 seconds so in one hour: 60/12=5,
5 multiply 20=100 seconds & in 24 hours: 100 multiply 24=2400 , 2400/60=40 minutes

Abu Still Okey

60 min / 12min = 5 5x20s = 100s 100s = 60min or 1 hour 100s x 24 hour = 2400s 2400s / 60 = 40

One day have 1440 Minutes (1 hour - 60 minutes -> 24 hours - x minutes). So, you divide the 1440 minute by 12 minutes. You have a total of 120 minutes. Then, you multiply the valor by 20 seconds (because is 20 seconds about 12 minutes). Then, you have 2400 seconds, so, you divide by 60 seconds, and you have a total of 40 minutes.

In 1 minute there are 12 5=60 min so time lost in 1hr=20 5=100sec in 1 day=24*100=2400sec=2400/60=40min

every 12 minutes it loses 20 seconds, then -> 60/12 = 5. -> 5 x 20 = 100 ( loses 100 seconds every hour) -> 24 x 100 = 2,400 seconds per day -> 2,400 / 60 = 40 minutes per day

2400 seconds = 2400/60 mins = 40 minutes

A day is equal to 1440 minutes. and the watch will lose 20 seconds every 12 minutes. (20 s / 12 mins)

So, in a day, the watch will lose 20 seconds for 120 times (1440/12 = 120)

multiple it 20 x 120 = 2400 seconds

but the question ask how many minutes, so 2400 divided by 60 as 1 minute equal to 60 seconds.. and you'll get 40 minutes.

24 hours a day 1440 mins a day 86400 sec a day

Every hour you will loss 100 sec which gives the equation of (lossSec = (60 / 12 ) * 20 ) Every day you will loss 2400 sec which gives the equation of (lossSecDay = lossSec * 24); Convert 2400sec to min which gives the equation of 2400/60 = 40mins

First, let's point some things. 1 min. = 60 s. 1 day = 24(h).60(mins) = 1440 mins.

Now what we have to know is: how many times 12 mins fits in 1440. 1440/12 = 120.

Multiply 20(s) by 120(mins) to find out how many seconds the clock has lost in one day: 120.20 = 2400(s)

Last but not least, convert seconds to minutes by dividing 2400 by 60: 2400/60 = 40.

Write a solution.1day =24hours 24x60=1440 minutes then we know that he loses 20 seconds every 12 minutes first we will multiply 20 x 1440=28800 now divide 28800/12= 2400 seconds

but we want answer in minutes

so, 1 minute =60 seconds then , divide 2400/60=40 minutes is the answer

there are 1440 minutes a day

simply divide 1440 to 12 (to get how many 12minutes in 1 day)

1440/12=120

multiply 120 to 20 (to get how many seconds he lose in 1 day)

120x20=2400

since the problem asked how many minutes he lose in one day..

convert 2400 secs in minutes

and we get 2400/60 =40..

so answer will be 40

we have 60 minutes in an hour, times 24 because we 24 hours in a day.
60×24≡1440 then the watch stops every 12 minutes, so it will be divide by 12. 1440÷12≡120 multiplied by 20 because it stops for 20 seconds 120×20≡2400 the answer 2400 is expressed in seconds, so, in able for us to express it in minute we have to divide it by 60 2400÷60≡40 we now have 40 minutes

12•5 = the number of minutes in an hour (60), so we should multiply the number of seconds lost in 12 minutes, 20 • 5 = 100, to receive the number of seconds lost per hour. 100•24 = 2400, which is the number of seconds lost per day, which divided by 60 (the number of seconds per minute), gives the number of minutes lost per day = 40.

If 1 day = 1440 minutes, means that 20 seconds will be loss for 12 times.

So 12 * 20= 2400 seconds = 40 minutes..

here, the watch loses 20 sec every 12 min 1 day = 24 hours = 24 x 60 min = 1440 min Now, 1440/12 = 120min i.e. there are 120 12min in 1day So, the total amount of lost seconds is 20 x 120 = 2400 sec Since, the time is asked in seconds 1 min = 60 sec or, 2400 / 60 min =40 min that gives you the answer But, if you are more familiar with the propotion way Then, 12 min = 720 sec & 1 day = 24 hrs = 1440 min = 86400 sec Now, using the ratio, 720 : 20 : : 86400 : y or, 720 / 20 = 86400 / y or, 36 =86400 / y By cross multiplication, 36y = 86400 or, y = 86400 / 36 or, y = 2400 But that is NOT the answer The units of the ratios are same, So it is 2400 sec NOT minutes Then, convert it to minutes by dividing by 60 It will give you 40 minutes

There are 24*60=1440 minutes a day. Dan's watch loses 20 seconds 1440/12=120 times a day, totalling 2400 seconds, or 40 minutes.

20 seconds in 12 minutes means 100 seconds in an hour. so in 24 hours, 100*24=2400 seconds are lost. which becomes 2400/60=40 minutes :-)

12 mins = 720 secs. 1 min = 60 secs. 1 day = 24 hours = 1440 mins = 86400 secs.

In 720 secs the watch loses = 20 secs In 60 secs the watch loses = 20/720 = 0.0277 secs In 86,400 secs the watch loses = 0.02777*86400 = 2400

The watch loses 2400 SECONDS in one day. Converting this value into mins by divinding it with 60. 2400/60 = 40 Mins.

So the watch loses 40 MINUTES in ONE day.
