A square game board has red and blue stripes of equal width as shown in the figure above. What is the chance that a dart that strikes the board will land on a blue stripe? Give your answer as a decimal number.

Since the stripes are of equal width, we divide the square game board into smaller squares as shown. There are a total of 5 2 = 25 5^2=25 congruent small squares. Therea are 15 15 blue small squares, so the chance that a dart will land on blue stripe is 15 25 = 0.6 \dfrac{15}{25}=\boxed{0.6}
