To find the degree of each term of the polynomial, add together the exponents of x x and y y

The degree of 3 x 3 y 2 3x^3y^2 is 3 + 2 = 5 3 + 2 = 5

The degree of 4 x 2 y 3 -4x^2y^3 is 2 + 3 = 5 2 + 3 = 5

The degree of 2 x y 3 2xy^3 is 1 + 3 = 4 1 + 3 = 4

The degree of 4 x 2 y 2 -4x^2y^2 is 2 + 2 = 4 2 + 2 = 4

The degree of x y xy is 1 + 1 = 2 1 + 1 = 2

The degree of 6 6 is 0 0

The largest degree is 5 5 , Therefore the polynomial has degree 5 5
