In a battle, 70% of the combatants lost one eye, 80% lost one leg, 85% lost ear, 90% an arm.

If x x % lost all the four body part, find the minimum value of x x .


The answer is 25.

30% didn't lose an eye

20% didn't lose a leg

15% didn't lose an ear

10% didn't lose an arm

So totaling everything, 30+20+15+10=75% lost all but one part of their body (at the minimum).

Thus 25% lost everything

Well... thanks .. now I see that it wasn't a big deal..

Min (lost eye and lost leg)=50% since 70%+80%=150% so you have to have at least 50% overlap. Similarly, min ((lost eye and lost leg) and lost ear)=35% since 50%+85%=135%. Finally, min ((lost eye and lost leg and lost ear) and lost arm)=25% since 35%+90%=125%.

As per your calculations, there are 25% people who had lost more than 1 part of their body. It doesn't mean that they have lost all their bodyparts...As per van diagram, answer will be 10% at its minimum

Well, well.. the word minimum has to be considered for the number of people who didn't lost every part of their body... and yes can you please show me your Venn diagram so that I can observe it carefully and check If you're correct at your place ?
