To solve similar questions in which the number of people and number of hats(objects) is the same, then use this equation:

{n-1[(n-1)! ÷ 2]} ÷ (n!) Simply substitute 8 into this equation: {8-1[(8-1)! ÷ 2]} ÷ 8! = 17,640 ÷ 40,320 = 0.4375
