Differentiate wrt x x

Calculus Level 1

Given that y = 6 2 y = 6^2 . If y = a y' = a , and a ! = b a! = b , find b b .

Try This Easy Sequence

Clarifications :

  • y y' denotes the derivative of y y with respect to the variable x x .
  • ! ! denotes the factorial notation. For example, 8 ! = 1 × 2 × 3 × × 8 8! = 1\times2\times3\times\cdots\times8 .

The answer is 1.

2 solutions

y = 6 2 y = 0 y= 6^{2} \implies y' = 0

since the derivative of constant is zero \textbf{ since the derivative of constant is zero}

a = 0 b = a ! = 0 ! = 1 \implies a = 0 \implies b = a! = 0! = \boxed 1

Well, if y=36, then its derivative y'=0 (because 36 doesn't depend on x). Then a!=0!=1.
