from V = d t V=\dfrac{d}{t} , where V = s p e e d V=speed , d = d i s t a n c e d=distance and t = t i m e t=time we get t = d V t=\dfrac{d}{V}

t D + t U = 1.4 t_D+t_U=1.4

d 5 + d 2 = 1.4 \dfrac{d}{5}+\dfrac{d}{2}=1.4 , multiplying both sides by 10 10 , we get

2 d + 5 d = 1.4 2d+5d=1.4

d = 2 m i l e s d=2~miles
