Do You Get Blackouts?

In a standard game of Bingo, numbers from 1 to 75 have an equal chance of being called. A card contains 24 numbers from 1 to 75. To win a “black-out”, all 24 numbers have to be covered.

What is the probability that you have a blackout after 70 numbers have been called? (to nearest 3 decimal places)

The answer is 0.1361.

Probability of getting a blackout at 70 numbers= 1-Probability of not getting blackout at 70 numbers= 1-(Probability that after picking 5 numbers, 1 of them appears on your sheet)= 1-(1-(Probability that after picking 5 numbers, none of them appear on your sheet)= (Probability that after picking 5 numbers, none of them appear on your sheet)= (51/75) (50/74) (49/73) (48/72) (47/71)= 0.136
