If the following is true, what would be the value of 4 9 4\star 9 ?

7 7 = 2 8 8 = 4 8 5 = 1 6 9 = 3 10 11 = 9 7\star7=2 \\ 8\star8=4 \\ 8\star5=1 \\ 6\star9=3 \\ 10\star11=9

Hint: See your clock/watch. Have you looked at it?

Add the numbers on that:

A mathematical reprensations of the solution is : ( 4 + 9 ) m o d 12 = 1 \boxed{ (4+9) mod 12 = 1 }

See that the trick to solve the problem is to assume the first number as the time in AM and the second number as the number of hours, you have to add to it. You'll find it in PM, when you do that.

7 AM + 7 hrs = 14 :00 or 2 pm
8 AM + 8 hrs = 16 :00 or 4 pm

Likewise, 4 AM + 9 hrs = 13 hrs or 1 pm.

We could also find a pattern that makes the 'equations' true, ie. 7+7=2 can be written as 2x=2, so x has to =1. Therefore to make this true, x=n-6

Then, (4-6)+(9-6)=1

It also works out simply by substituting * with plus 13 is 1 14 is 2 15 is 3 16 is 4 21 is 9 hence 9*4 which is 13 must be 1 😊

The symbol "*" can be assumed as the following function. f(x1,x2) = -12+x1+x2, where x1 and x2 are first two numbers. Now here x1=4 and x2=9. You get 1 as answer.

7+7=2, in this "equation" i do not regard 7 as number, but as symbol, leading to the result that "7" =1. Do the same with the second we have "8" =2. Then i ask myself, " is 9 =3, 10 =4 and 11 =5 ?" the answer is yes, and it lies in the other lines, which helps me ensure. Therefore, 4 =-2 (subtracted by 6) and 9=3, and 4+9 = 3-2 = 1
