The paper airplane doesn't fly, it glides .

What is the difference between flying and gliding?

An object needs constant thrust to fly , gliding means that the object has only in a moment thrust. In our case - when it's thrown and some seconds after.

Flying means making use of reaction of the force used to drag air, which a paper plane doesn't apply. It moves through air making use of Bernoulli's theorem.
