Use vector subtraction method to get the magnitude of change in velocity. It comes out to be 100 m/s. Divide it by t = 10 s to get a (magnitude) = 10 m/s^2

In a hydrolic lift,the motor gives a force of 100N.How much people of weight 25N can it lift?

change in velocity along east in 10 sec is -60m/s. accelaration =-6m/s^2 change in velocity along south in 10 sec is 80m/s. acceleration=8m/s^2 total acceleration=sqrt(6^2+8^2)=10m/s^2

initial speed=60i, final speed=80j, change=60i-80j.... time taken=10s.
therefore, accln vector=6i-8j, mag=10m/s2

Using vector subtraction, the change(mag.) in velocity is found to be 100 m/s.(To get it in a simple way, just take the two velocities as perpendicular and base of a Rt. triangle. The hypotenuse(100) represents the change in velocity). Divide it by given time(10 s) .[as a= dv/dt]. We get the acceleration(mag.) = 10 m/s^2

Hey yo,

By phythagora's theorem,

as an average acceleration is a vector quantity,

to find the velocity(from eastward to southward),

c^2 = a^2 + b^2

c = (3600 + 6400)^(1/2)

c = 100 m/s

therefore, the average acceleration for the 10s = 100 / 10 = 10 m / s^2....

use vector vf - vi find magnitude then use change in velocity / time takem

initial vel=60i final vel= -80j a=(-80j-60i)/10 mag(a)=10

ITS SIMPLE ..consider this a cartesian plane so initial velocity=60i(where i denotes +ve x axis direction) final velocity=-80j so avg acc=(f.vel-i.vel)/time avg acc=(-80j-60i)/10=-8j-6i so magnitude=(64+36)^1/2=10ms-2
