Earth Rotation

Algebra Level 1

You know that the Earth takes 24 hours to complete its rotation. You should also know that the Equator measures approximately 40,000 km. Since the earth is almost spherical the rotational speed at certain points of the globe is different from the rotational speed at the Equator. Knowing that the Antarctic Circle measures approximately 16590 km, the difference in rotational speed between the Equator and the Antarctic Circle is:

The measure of Antarctic Circle can be wrong because I did a conversion of scale in world map from my Geography Book.

1125 km/h 1505 km/h 975 km/h 1000 km/h
