From Euler's formula:

e i x = cos x + i sin x e i π = cos π + i sin π = 1 + i ( 0 ) = 1 e^{ix} = \cos x + i \sin x\\ e^{i\pi} = \cos \pi + i \sin \pi\\ =-1+i(0)\\ =-1
