Jayant was half the age of Radha 10 years ago. If right now the sum of ages of both of them is 89. What is the age of Jayant right now ?

J − 10 = 1 2 ( R − 10 ) J-10=\dfrac{1}{2}(R-10) (equation 1)

J + R = 89 J+R=89 (equation 2)

Solving these system of equations, gives J = 33 J=33 .
