2 x = x 3 2x = x^3

x 3 2 x = 0 x^3-2x = 0

x ( x 2 2 ) = 0 x(x^2 - 2) = 0

x = 0 x = 0 (rej. as x + x \sqrt{x} + \sqrt{x} is non-zero) or x 2 = 2 x^2 = 2

so ( x 2 ) 2 = 2 2 = 2 (\sqrt{x^2})^2 = \sqrt{2}^2 = \boxed{2} .

Nice solution!!!
