x × x = x ⟹ x 2 − x = 0 ⟹ x ( x − 1 ) = 0 ⟹ x = 0 or x = 1 x\times x=x\implies x^2-x=0\implies x(x-1)=0\implies x=0 \text{ or } x=1

The numbers can only be 0 or 1.

The only number squared that equal is self is 1. Simple as that.

Not true. 0 2 = 0 0^2=0
