Right one, Abhijit, and here's a proof for your solution for anyone who can't get it ;)

3 + 2.75 + 1.75 + 2.75 - 0.75 + 3 - 1.75 + 0.75

= 3 + 3 + 2.75 + 2.75 + (1.75 - 1.75) + (- 0.75 + 0.75)

= 2x3 + 2x2.75 + 0 + 0

= 2(3 + 2.75) = (2.75 + 3) x 2

= 11.5

Or just pull that one length down and that other length to the right to make it a complete square.

I think the correct answer is 9.5 yards. ?..am I correct?...because 3×2 +2.75+ 0.75 =9.5

Why isn't the perimeter 2(3+2.75) - (3-1.75) - (2.75-0.75) = 8.2 i-e smaller than the perimeter of whole 3*2.75 sq. yds rectangle?

Its only a rectangule . Just 2(3)+2(2.75)=11.5

Assuming that all the corners are right angles then the perimeter of shape would be that of a rectangle 3 yards by 2.75 yards:

(3 + 2.75) x 2 = 11.5

in caqse of parameter this is a type of rectangle whose base is 2.75 nd length is 3 yards... so parameter =2(l+b)=2(3+2.75)=11.5 yards

Look it as a Rectangle so that we can find perimeter with the help of length of given two sides.

now, perimeter=2(3)+2(2.75) 

                 =6+5.50

                    =11.5
