Now , Placing the value of $Y$

$X + 99 = 100$

$⇒ X = 100 - 99$

Therefore, $X = 1$

No need to give a solution as 96% of the ones who attempted this question have answered it correctly (I wonder who the remaining 4% were). But(still),

x+y = 100

x= 100 - y

=100 - 99

=1

X + Y = 100 , Y = 99. Therefore the value of X is 100 - 99 , which is 1.
