180-123=57 180-114+66 66+57=123 180-123=57 180-57-90=33 180-33=147 147/2=73.5

I got it right upto 180-33=147. I don't understand the 147/2=73.5.

u proceed to make that division given that both sides of the upper triangle are congruent and therefore have equal angles.

I got 73.5 but that wasn't one of the answer choices so I picked the first 'none' but that was apparently wrong

Considering that the sum of the internal angles of a triangle is 180°, you have for the bottom Triangle:

180° - 123° = a => a=57° 180° - 114° = b => b=66° c= 180° - 57° - 66° => c=57°

Then for the middle we can see that the bottom angle is equal to the top angle of the bottom triangle, so for the remaining angle we get:

d= 180° - 90° - 57° => d=33

For the last triangle we get: 2x + 33° = 180° ( as it is an isoceles triangle, the 2 top angles have the same value)

x= 73.5°

See the picture for clarification:

Here's a work-through (from bottom to top) of the angle, x, using two geometric rules.

180-123=57 180-114+66 66+57=123 180-123=57 180-57-90=33 180-33=147 147/2=73.5

180-123=57 180-114+66 66+57=123 180-123=57 180-57-90=33 180-33=147 147/2=73.5

I calculated the measurements of each angle in the bottom triangle, using supllementary angles thm. The angles are 57 and 66 degrees. The third angle is 57 degrees because a triangle adds up to 180. I then uss vertical angles to find a 57 degree angle in the middle triangle. I added this to the 90 degree angle (right angle) and subtracted the total from 180. I found that the third angle is 33. I then used vertical angles to find the angle in the top triangle is 33 degrees. I then subtracted that measurement from 180 and divided the difference since the isosceles triangle has two of the same angle measurements. x = 73.5 degrees.

Too small solution

x={180-[180-[180-(180-123+180-114)+90]]}/2

180 - 114 = 66 , 123 - 66 = 57 , 90 - 57 = 33 , 180 - 33 = 147 , 147 / 2 = 73.5 --- ok
