A light weight block wall is constructed on a loose sand. The blocks weigh 8 KN, and 16KN and are arranged as indicated in the drawing. The base dimension of the structure is 10 meters by 1 meter wide. The depth of sand fill is 5 meters. Material properties for the sand are: Poisson's ratio is 0.30, and the modulus of elasticity is 10,000 KN/cubic meter. What is the anticipated settlement at the base of the structure in cm? Assume the soil is isotropic, linearly elastic and free draining.
