When the wire is bent ,then its length becomes the circumference of bent wire. Suppose that the two points diametrically opposite are A and B. Then, the upper curve and lower curve will have 8 ohm resistance . The upper and lower curve are in parallel. Hence the equivalent resistance is: 1/R = 1/8 +1/8=1/4 Hence, R=4 Ω
