Electricity And Magnitism, Resistance

Which uses more energy, a 250 W TV set in 1 hr, or a 1200 W toaster in 10 minutes?

Energy consumed is exactly same TV Toaster Dont chose this option..you are a douche if u do

We have the following :-

Power of the TV : 250 W

Time for which the TV is used : 1 hour

Energy Expelled E = P × t = 250 × 1 = 250 J E = P \times t = 250 \times 1 = 250 J

Power of the Toaster : 1200 W

Time for which the Toaster is used : 10 minutes = 1/6 th of an hour

Energy Expelled E = P × t = 1200 × 1 / 6 = 200 J E = P \times t = 1200 \times 1/6 = 200 J

Hence T V \boxed{TV}

Energy E E used by an appliance Is given by E = P t E=Pt in J J , where P P is the power rating in W W of the appliance and t t is the time in s s the appliance is switched on.

Therefore,

E T V = 250 × 60 × 60 = 900000 J = 900 k J E_{TV}=250\times 60 \times 60 = 900000\space J = 900 \space kJ

E t o a s t e r = 1200 × 10 × 60 = 720000 J = 720 k J E_{toaster}=1200\times 10 \times 60 = 720000\space J = 720 \space kJ

Therefore, T V \boxed{TV} uses more energy.

  • Energy consumption is given by E=VIt.
  • For TV
  • E=250 1 60*60
  • 9*10^{5}J
  • For toaster
  • 1200 10 60
  • 720000
  • 72*10^{4}J
  • TV consumes more energy.
