Here the backward reaction releases same amount of energy and known as Electron gain enthalpy.

First ionisation energy of Na is 5.1eV, which means that if we apply 5.1eV to Na it will become a unipositive ion i.e, Na+. Now election gain enthalpy tells us about the energy applied to make Na+ a neutral atom. But it will take electron without applying energy moreover it will become stable and Emit out the energy absorbed earlier which is 5.1eV.
