Consider two sets A = { ( x , y ) 2 x y = 2 } , B = { ( x , y ) ( c + 5 ) x + 3 y = 10 } . \begin{aligned} A &= \left \{ (x, y)\mid -2x-y=2 \right \}, \\ B &= \left \{ (x, y)\mid (c+5)x+3y=10 \right \}. \end{aligned} If A B = A \cap B=\emptyset , what is the value of the constant c ? c?

First you assume as if you are going to solve simultaneous equation......so equate both the expression in set A and in set B...then to solve for x multiply the expression in set A by 3..and solve for x...you will obtain x=16/(c-1)....hence the solution is the set of all real numbers except c=1...meaning if c=1 the two sets have no elements in common...hence its solved
