here it is: 5 x + 3 × 4 = 74 5x+ 3 \times 4=74

or, 5 x + 12 = 74 5x+12=74

or, 5 x = 62 5x=62

or, x = 62 5 x=\frac{62}{5}

5 x + 3 × 4 = 74 5 x + 12 = 74 5 x = 74 12 5 x = 62 x = 62 5 = 12.4 \begin{aligned} 5x + 3×4 & = 74\\ 5x + 12 & = 74\\ 5x & = 74-12\\ 5x & = 62\\ x & = \dfrac{62}{5}\\ & = \color{#3D99F6}{\boxed{12.4}} \end{aligned}
