For any right triangle of a base angle of 60 60 degrees has a base that is half of the hypotenuse. Ergo, x = 1 2 ( 5 + 3 ) = 4 x=\dfrac{1}{2} \left(5+3\right)=4 .

x = 1 2 ( a + b ) x = \frac1{2}(a +b)

Let unknown part on side BC =b, unknowwn part of AB, = b - 2. So 1/2 b + 1/2(b-2) +x =b+3,x=4
