Exploring a Desert!

Logic Level 3

An Explorer needs to cross a stretch of desert. He decides to take the help of few porters.

Each person can carry a maximum of 4 days of food supply. Crossing the desert requires 6 days of walking and there is no other means of travel available.

What is the minimum number of porters that the explorer needs ;to successfully cross the desert?

Details and Assumptions:
- They cant last a minute without adequate food; 4 days of food supply means 4 days of food for a single man.

4 4 6 6 2 2 He cannot cross the desert at all. 5 5 3 3 1 1

After day 1: one Porter uses two rations to replanish the other Porter and the Explorer en returns with his remaining ration. After day 2: second Porter gives one ration to Explorer Who now has 4 days worth of food. The Porter returns with two rations. (A ration is food for one man for one day).

but, it never said the porters had to live! So one porter could give all their food to explorer and he could abandon the porter!
