( x + y ) 2 (x + y)^2

Applying the formula ( a + b ) 2 = a 2 + 2 a b + b 2 (a + b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2

= x 2 + 2 x y + y 2 = x^2 + 2xy + y^2

( x + y )^2= ( x + y) ( x+ y)

              =x^2 +xy +xy +y^2

              = x^2 + 2xy + y^2
