There are 5 chairs and 5 persons.

Then 1st person can sit on any of 5 chairs

and 2nd person can sit on any of 4 remaining chairs

and 3rd person can sit on any of 3 remaining chairs

and 4th person can sit on any of 2 remaining chairs

and 5th person can sit only on 1 remaining chairs

Total number of ways = 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 = 5! = 120
