Given in the first step the a = b a b = 0 a = b \implies \boxed{a - b = 0} . In step 4 to step 5 we are cancelling ( a b ) (a - b) on both sides which is equal to zero. As division by 0 is not allowed step 4 to 5 is not a valid step.

Let's keep a and b both as five Step 1,, 5=5. (no probs). Step 2,, 25=25 (no probs). Step 3,, 25-25=25-25 (no probs). Step 4,, (5+5)(0)=5*0(no probs). Step 5,, now here's the problem. Picture below explains it. Therfore,Step 4 to 5 will be the correct option for the question
