Fart King!

Logic Level 2

You, Lelin, Kalam and Jahangir were walking down the street and suddenly you smell fart. Then they made the statements below.

i . i. Lelin: "Jahangir farted"
i i . ii. Kalam: "I didn't do it and I know Jahangir is innocent too (his farts smell a lot worse)"
i i i . iii. Jahangir: "Yes, it was me"

You know that the Fart King has done it and he is definitely a liar. If you did not fart, who is the Fart King?

Kalam You Lelin Jahangir Impossible for any of you

  • You did not fart so you are not the Fart King.
  • Jahangir can't be the Fart King as that would make his statement true.
  • Kalam said Jahangir is innocent and that is true, so he is not the Fart King.
  • Lelin lied about Jahangir, So he is the possible Fart King.

The assumption is that anyone that is nor the Fart King must tell the truth. It is possible that all three are lying in which case it would not be possible to identify the culprit.

the assumption is wrong. Its said that fart king is definitely a liar but it is not said that any other person can't be a liar. So in the end we get 2 liars Lelin and Jahangir. Here Jahangir is not the fart king as that would make his statement true and create a paradox. So lelin is the Fart King.
