You traveled three hours at a certain speed. If you had taken 1 1 minute less to do each mile you would have gone 30 30 miles farther than you actually did.

How far did you go?

The answer is 60.

Assume that the actual distance = "d" and the speed is "v"

t = d + 30 v . 3 = d + 30 v 1 v = 30 d 2 where : " d " is the number of minutes saved . \begin{aligned} t &= \dfrac{d+30}{v} &. \\ 3 &= \dfrac{d +30}{v} & 1 \\ v & = \dfrac{30}{d} & 2 \\ \text{where} &: "d" \text{is the number of minutes saved} &. \end{aligned}

solve (1) and (2) ---> "d" = 60 mile
