24 × 0.5 = 24 × 1 2 = 24 2 = 12 24 \times 0.5 =24 \times \dfrac{1}{2}=\dfrac{24}{2}=\boxed{12}

Note that 0.5 0.5 means 1 2 \dfrac{1}{2} , so 1 2 \dfrac{1}{2} of 24 24 is 12 12 .

0.5 = 1 2 12 × 1 2 = 12 0.5 = \dfrac{1}{2} \implies 12 \times \dfrac{1}{2} = \boxed{12}

I have discovered a truly remarkable solution of this problem but this margin is too big to contain it :P.
