Let the mass of metal oxide = 100 g 100g

Therefore, mass of oxygen = 20 g 20g

So, mass of metal = 80 g 80g

No. of equivalents of oxygen = No. of equivalents of metal oxide.

m a s s o f o x y g e n e q u i v a l e n t m a s s o f o x y g e n = m a s s o f m e t a l o x i d e e q u i v a l e n t m a s s o f m e t a l o x i d e \dfrac{mass of oxygen}{equivalent mass of oxygen}\ = \dfrac{mass of metal oxide}{equivalent mass of metal oxide}

20 8 = 100 E \dfrac{20}{8}\ = \dfrac{100}{E}

Therefore, E = 40 E = 40

In metal oxide, we also have to take the equiv mass of oxide na?
