If white plays optimally thereafter (in this situation, always forcing black to react to check), there are two possibilities for a guaranteed back-rank checkmate in two more moves.

The best move for white is Qxf8+ \text{Qxf8+} . No matter how black replies, it will end in a bank rank checkmate.
