Find the value of f ( 1 ) f'(1) for the function:

f ( x ) = ( x + 1 ) ( 2 x 2 ) . f(x) = (x+1)(2x - 2).


The answer is 4.

Differentiation becomes simple once we expand.

f ( x ) = ( x + 1 ) ( 2 x 2 ) = 2 x 2 2 f(x) = (x+1)(2x-2) = 2x^2 - 2 .

f ( x ) = 4 x f'(x) = 4x .

f ( 1 ) = 4 \boxed{f'(1) = 4}
